Re-Elect Michael Martens for Wausau City Council District 2
Hi, I’m Michael Martens and I’m the incumbent Wausau City Council, District 2 Councilperson. I grew up in the Wausau area, my parents moved here in 1978, and long ago I decided to make this community my home to raise a family. Since 1997, my wife Christine and I, have lived in and owned our home in District 2. Raising our children in this great neighborhood, we’ve enjoyed many of the neighborhood amenities, like walking our dog in Pine Grove Cemetery, sledding down the hill at Pleasant View Park, or picking up some quick groceries at the local Townline Market.
I am a small business owner and entrepreneur. In addition I previously worked in a leadership capacity with a local non-profit organization. I’ve volunteered with our local 4-H and Scouting groups and served on community organization boards. This mix of business expertise and non-profit leadership experience makes me uniquely qualified to serve as your Wausau city council person.
Wausau’s a great community; with so much untapped potential. But I believe we can make it better. I’m an effective communicator and champion transparency in local government. I believe in smart economic development that leads to a higher quality of life for all who live and work here. I see that our strength lies in the cultural and ethnic diversity of our residents and work to foster a welcome and inclusive atmosphere. I understand the importance of transportation and advocate for mass transit, bike routes, and a walkable community. Public safety is critical and I work to make sure our public servants address the negative issues in our community while treating all citizens with dignity and respect.
In running for re-election to Wausau’s city council, I humbly ask for your support and vote on April 7‚ 2020.
